Do you get tired of taking the same engagement photo over and over again? I know we do! The most exiting part about our job is that we can change things up to get cool new pictures. I feel this is one way that makes a good photographer, great. This picture is taken at the Rose Garden in San Jose, California. This spot is know for a lot of people walking around taking pictures/ prom pictures/ graduation pictures spot. Its almost impossible to capture a photo without 10 people in the background photobombing you. We got the standard pictures out of the way and when it was getting dark everyone left!
I placed a light on one side of the pond and another in front of the couple. Above is how the picture came out.
This next picture was so much fun to set up. Before I told the couple where to stand, we put a Godox light on the right side with an orange gel. On the left side, we put a blue gel. I wedged both flashes between the metal fence to not get a glare on the water and to hold them in place. In front, I had a flash on super low, to just light them enough, without being to much. Our goal is to make it look natural, yet fun. This was the final shot. Below, I will show a shot of what it looked like from afar without the couple.
In the end, the beautiful location is perfect for engagement pictures and portraits. Lighting just makes it unique. We do not like handing everyone standard photos with nothing "impressive or different" We pride out selves on that.
