Emma and I love capturing weddings at the Sacramento Zoo! This more than likely will be the last wedding we do photo and video at the downtown location. Now, the Sacramento Zoo is going to be moving to the Elk Grove.
We started the day out with the bride (Shelby), while she was getting her hair and make up done with all of her family and bridesmaids. We do not like to pose people much because we want a candid reaction. We WILL get the pictures we need that are posed but we do it more of a natural way to not be to invasive.
Right after we felt we captures enough of the bride, we drove over to the grooms hotel room to capture some footage. We arrive and John (the groom) was just about to start getting ready. They were all drinking beer and playing pool. We captured pictures and video of John getting ready, along with some fun activities like pool, hanging out, and shotgunning beer! Its always fun to sit back and observe (like a fly on the wall) to make sure men can still be men. Which can create natural/ great pictures and video.
Right after the men were done getting ready, we kicked them out to head to the zoo. The bride and her bridesmaids were headed to the same room so they could get on their dresses. The biggest part was that the bride and groom would not see each other as one was leaving and the other was coming. We needed to capture the first look to the bridesmaids and a couple staged shots of bride and her mom. Most happened naturally as she put on her jewelry, but we moved them a little big for a better looking picture and video.
